The Soul Donkey welcomes Jesse Allen of Beat Connection Recordings for an evening of
disco-infused-jazzy-ass-shaking house music as only a fellow Gemini can bring.
It's funky like that because we share the same birthday.  The saxophonist got hooked on house music at The Loft (the Boston version)
while in high school and continues to contribute to the local scene as a producer, promoter, DJ, and barfly.

It was a crazy session.  Jesse showed up 30 minutes early with three crates of vinyl and a pair of Shure headshells
that I have wanted to check out in a production environment for some time.  At one point, he rewired my middle turntable to
play backwards using the classic 70s trick of reversing the headshell while
mounting the record on a roll of duct tape  (you CD kiddies will have no idea what I'm talking about), and then dropped
a triple turntable classic set.  On top of this, he was nice enough to rebalance the tables when he finished his set
and replaced the original headshells -- this is the sign of a professional.  We did everything
right this time except for keeping a playlist but if you really need to know what was being thrown down,
you can hit Jesse up at dj.jesse.allen@mac.com or visit his Myspace page (diskjockjesseallen).

We hope you enjoy this week's episode and that the higher fidelity is worth the larger file size.
The Soul Donkey urges you to protect yourself from crappy compression rates and demand more for your ears.

Love and happiness,

Rodney Marable a.k.a. The Soul Donkey
